Ivey Thornton M.D., trained in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville after receiving her medical degree at the University of Alabama.  She then completed a one year Neuro-Ophthalmology fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard School of Medicine.  Dr. Thornton then pursued further advance surgical training in cataract and refractive surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. She has had a successful practice in Ohio and Nebraska since 2011. Now, she lives in Omaha with her husband, who is also an Eye Surgeon, and their four young children. She is active in clinical research having been awarded grants from Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmology (CLAO) and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) in the past.  She has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals of Ophthalmology and presented her work at national and international eye meetings.  Her passion and practice focus is in cataract and refractive (LASIK, PRK & ICL) surgery.  Having been raised in American Samoa and Hong Kong with expatriate parents, she has an affinity for global eye care and has served with her husband in charitable eye surgery ministries in China.
